FAQ;

In Character; Is this a memory loss game? What happens to my character when the game shifts?
No. While NPCs and the physical area may change, characters themselves do not lose their memories or change between shifts in location. There may be an occasional event prompt that offers some amnesia-like effects, but these will always be optional for players.
What kind of situation might trigger a bond?
Whatever you and your thread partner are being inspired by. Bonds in Cyndane can be anything from tender to toxic. We only ask that if you choose to engage with material that may be violent, graphic or sexual, you use content warnings for it.
How does my character arrive?
Your character arrives in clothing from home with the inventory included in your character application. Because Cyndane is ever-changing in terms of location, each TDM will call out more specific arrival details for that location.
What can my character bring in their inventory?
Your character will arrive with the clothes on their back as well as up to three items submitted in your application. These items must be small enough for a character to reasonably carry with them. For example, a pocket watch or sword would be permissible, a grandfather clock or a motorcycle would not. These items will be stabilized along with your characters, meaning they will not disappear or change when the setting does. Events will allow chances to gain other items from home. Pets are not allowed, as living creatures aside from player characters are not stabilized.
Can my character die?
Locations in Cyndane will have varying levels of danger, including some that can cause character death. If your character dies in one of these situations, they will not be resurrected until the next cycle happens. As the game goes on, events will offer different opportunities for death that allows for shorter resurrection times. Regardless of the type of death, each instance will have some effect on the state of your bonds and the world, even if your character doesn't see it directly.
Can my character be canon updated?
Due to the nature of this game canon updates will be extremely limited. We expect for this to happen approximately once a year, but no more then once every six months. If you wish to change your character's canon point outside this, you will need to drop them and re-apply fresh.
Will my character be able to turn the bond off?
By default bonds will always be on. There may be some events that allow for adjustment of this, such as a learned skill to mask it, if characters choose to work on such. With multiple bonds, reacting to every little thing will not be realistic, but we want to leave the door open for the players to do with it as they wish.
How strong do the bonds pull on a character, from what distance?
This varies by bond and we want to leave it up to players how they want to use that mechanic and the level they choose to engage with it. It's meant to allow for players to get creative in their threads and for characters to access feelings and emotions they otherwise wouldn't. While it doesn't have to be a constant thing, we ask that it is used in a consistent way that doesn't ignore the downsides in favor of the advantages.
Out of Character; What is the game pacing?
Cyndane is run in three month increments. Each set of three months will have one TDM and two events. The TDMs will count as game canon for those currently in the game and can be used as supplementary event material.
What happens after three months?
After three months, there will be a shift of environment based on the stabilizations achieved by characters. OOC, the theming of the location will change as well as some of the elements.
What are the themes of the game?
Threads/Bonds between characters & mysteries. Threads/Bonds are the currency of the game. Genres will shift, but events will both strengthen and challenge those bonds. Additionally, each new shift of the game setting will have a mystery to unravel that folds into the larger metaplot.
What sort of content warnings apply?
Content warnings will vary by event and be updated as they come up. You can expect a mix of suspense and mystery that will involve both physical and psychological danger situations. This includes things like gore, violence, emotional and mind-altering substances, and other adult situations.
Can my character keep their powers?
We ask that powers be nerfed to a non-game-breaking status that aims to not put one’s own character at significant advantage over others. A character that can teleport across their world will still be able to teleport, but the range may be down to a hundred yards or so. A wizard who may cast a fireball can still create fire, but might be limited to something the size of a bonfire. Players will be asked to identify powers in their application with suggested nerfs, and mods will provide additional feedback if needed.
What sort of characters can I apply with?
Fandom or Original Characters over the age of 16. We do not accept "fandom OCs", any Original Character must come with an original backstory and information. We do not accept CRAUS.
Is there a cast cap?
Yes. Since this game is about creating and forming new bonds we want to keep casts small. There will be no more then five characters per cast at any given time.
What are AC requirements?
AC will consist of fifteen comments across no more then three threads. One of these threads needs to be a tag out.
Do I need to know the Wheel of Time to understand the game?
Not at all. Some of the ideas are inspired by the series, but having knowledge of The Wheel of Time will not provide players with any advantages, and not having knowledge will not put players at a disadvantage.
Is there a network?
There is no default network as most of the settings will be those without the required tech. There may occasionally be a short-term event or settings that do allow for one, and it will be set up in those specific cases.

What about non-human characters? Will they be humanized, or altered in some way? Not applicable to Anakin here but I was considering one that wasn't human as well.

Mildly specific question that could become broader.

Idk if you can spoil an OC but spoilers for an OC below
I have an OC that's a D&D Phantom Rogue as a base for understanding this question.

The character can naturally see ghosts and has a particular, though begrudging link to a dead twin that manifests as their shadow (kinda like Peter Pan's shadow has its own personality, except these two are very attached). While I am not intending to actively play both 'characters' as the shadow twin is basically a backseat character that only the Rogue can hear/see (unless there's other mediums). I am wondering if the Shadow can tag along into the game?

As a broader question, this might be applicable to possessions, or other sentient things dwelling with a host.

That answers things perfectly, thanks so much!
